Amsterdam Fashion Week (AFW) is raising its environmental ambitions by officially adopting the sustainability requirements developed by Copenhagen Fashion Week (CPHFW). This decision aligns AFW with one of Europe’s most forward-thinking fashion platforms when it comes to sustainability.

Since its launch, the Norwegian Fashion Hub, Oslo Runway, Berlin Fashion Week executed by Fashion Council Germany and the British Fashion Council have also implemented CPHFW Sustainability Requirements framework.

The initiative will kick off with a one-year pilot phase to embed the Minimum Standards into AFW existing admission criteria. The full implementation will come into effect in September 2026, and all participating brands will need to meet these standards.

The goal is to drive meaningful change in the industry by holding brands accountable and encouraging more sustainable practices from concept to catwalk. Danie Bles, CEO of Amsterdam Fashion Week said, “Sustainability isn’t optional – it’s the future of fashion, and we’re shaping it today.”
