Stella McCartney is repurchasing the minority stake held by LVMH (source: Business of Fashion)

Stella McCartney is repurchasing the minority stake held by LVMH in her eponymous label. McCartney will continue to advise LVMH’s chief executive and the group’s executive team on sustainability issues as Global Ambassador on Sustainability. This is not the first time the British designer has made this move. McCartney ended her 17-year partnership with the Gucci Group (now Kering) in March 2019, when she bought back her 50 percent stake.

Danish fashion brand Ganni has entered a four-year agreement with Los Angeles-based startup Ambercycle to incorporate Cycora, a recycled polyester made from post-consumer textile waste, into its products. This partnership aims to replace over 20% of Ganni’s annual virgin and bottle-based recycled polyester usage with Cycora, supporting the brand’s strategy to reduce its carbon footprint and source 10% of its materials from next-generation fabrics by 2025. Ganni and Ambercycle have collaborated since 2021, with Ganni introducing garments containing up to 70% Cycora in recent collections.

The BFC, organizer of the London Fashion Week, is collaborating with Copenhagen Fashion Week (CPHFW) to implement CPHFW’s Sustainability Requirements framework. Starting in 2025, all brands participating in the BFC’s NewGen program must meet additional mandatory environmental and social criteria to participate in London Fashion Week. Following an onboarding and piloting period, full implementation of the framework is scheduled for January 2026. CPHFW introduced the scheme in 2020, requiring brands to share their sustainability strategy, demonstrate quality and longevity in their designs, and use materials with positive sustainable and social impact.

Acne Studios earned B Corp certification with a score of 83.2. This certification, awarded by the non-profit B Lab, connects Acne Studios to a global community of like-minded organizations. The B Corp assessment thoroughly evaluates all aspects of the business, including office practices, store and warehouse operations, supplier relationships, and the sustainability of product collections. This comprehensive framework supports and validates Acne Studios’ sustainability strategy and goals. The company must undergo this assessment every three years to benchmark and enhance its impact.

The US is withdrawing from the Paris climate agreement (source: The Guardian)

On his first day back as President of the United States, Donald Trump signed an order for the US to leave the Paris Agreement. This move ends the country’s financial support for international climate programs. The order focuses on economic growth and reducing government spending. Environmental groups warn this could hurt global efforts to fight climate change as the US is the world’s second-biggest pollution emitter in the globe.
