By Rotation has opened the world’s largest fashion rental pop-up in London’s West End, celebrating its fifth anniversary. The five-story space in Mayfair, featuring luxury fashion and menswear, is part of Westminster’s ‘Meanwhile On’ project, which provides brands with access to high-profile retail spaces within London’s West End. Known for sustainable fashion rentals and partnerships with Net-a-Porter and Airbnb, By Rotation allows users to rent and monetize luxury items via its app, now expanded to the U.S. The pop-up will host events and is open until December 31, with rentals starting at $13 per day.
On, Patagonia, Puma, PVH, Salomon test Carbios’ fibre-to-fibre recycling technology (source: Fashion United)
Carbios, along with brands like On, Patagonia, Puma, and Salomon, has created the world’s first t-shirt made completely from recycled textile waste. Using a special process, Carbios breaks down polyester fabrics into basic building blocks, which are then reformed into new fibers that match the quality of new materials. This technology aims to make fashion more sustainable by turning old clothes into new ones, reducing reliance on fossil-based materials. The group, now joined by PVH Corp, is working to expand this recycling method across Europe, with hopes of achieving 100% fabric-to-fabric recycling on a larger scale.
The leather industry’s latest move towards sustainability (source: Vogue)
Evolved by Nature has developed a sustainable leather finishing technology called Activated Silk™ L1, designed to make leather production greener by replacing harmful chemicals with biodegradable silk peptides. This technology, derived from upcycled silkworm cocoons, provides a stain-resistant and durable finish to leather without the toxic solvents or PFAS often used. Partnering with Authentic Thai Leather, Evolved by Nature is helping Thai leather producers adopt this sustainable method, giving them a competitive edge against European suppliers. This collaboration allows brands to use more eco-friendly leather at a lower cost, supporting sustainable fashion on a global scale while meeting increasing consumer demand for green alternatives.
Reformation partners with Ambercycle to feature cycora in its latest collection (source: Fashion United)
Reformation has teamed up with material science company Ambercycle to introduce a collection featuring cycora, a regenerated polyester made from discarded textiles. This partnership supports Reformation’s aim to achieve full circularity by 2030, focusing on minimizing virgin material use and waste. The cycora fabric, designed for durability and repeated reuse, aligns with Reformation’s sustainability goals by helping reduce dependency on fossil-fuel-derived synthetics, which dominate fiber production and often end up in landfills. The collection, inspired by 1920s Paris, includes elegant evening gowns and separates, marking a meaningful step toward sustainable fashion.
Spain’s top fashion retailers to launch trial to collect clothes waste in 2025 (source: Reuters)
Starting in April next year, Spain’s largest fashion companies, including Zara-owner Inditex, H&M, Decathlon and Primark, will begin collecting discarded clothes as part of a voluntary program called Re-viste. This initiative, which prepares for EU regulations expected by 2026, aims to keep textiles and shoes separate from other waste to improve recycling and reuse. Currently, only 12% of used clothing in Spain is collected separately, with 88% ending up in landfills. Re-viste will place collection containers in locations like stores and shopping centers, with plans to eventually have one container per 1,200 residents once the EU regulations come into effect.
